There’s everything from luxury hotels to private villas, boutique resorts to backpacker bungalows, beach huts to dorm rooms – all in all, a huge and rather daunting selection.

To help you on your way, we have filtered down all those choices to a more manageable list on each beach, with recommendations, tips, brief descriptions and prices.

Here, on this page, to kick-start your hunt for that perfect spot, we pick out some of the most popular Koh Chang resorts in each area on both the west coast and east coast of the island.

White Sand Beach (North) – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

White Sand Beach has one of the best Koh Chang resorts at KC Grande Resort, with standard rooms at 3,500bt up to deluxe villas from 11,900bt. Look out too for Kacha with prices ranging from 3,300bt to 8,800bt and The Erawan at 5,000bt a night

For mid range accommodation, Cookies Hotel, Banpu Resort, Apple Beachfront, Bamboo and Alina Hotel all fit the bill, their rates hovering around 3,000bt. Alongside them, you’ll also find plenty of cheaper resorts and bungalows, where you can secure deals for 1,000bt to 1,500bt.

The main backpacker quarter is found down on the sand at the northern end, with cheap rooms from 500bt at places like Independent Bo.

Klong Prao Beach – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

Head to Klong Prao Beach for some of the most upmarket Koh Chang resorts at The Dewa, The Emerald Cove and Santhiya Tree. Well appointed rooms, slick service, feature swimming pools and spas come as standard, rates from around 5,000bt to 18,000bt a night.

With plenty of other great places such as Centara Tropicana Resort, Ramayama Resort, Aana Resort and Spa and Barali Beach Resort, no question, you are spoilt for choice on this beach. Expect rooms at those to cost 3,000bt upwards.

Up by the road and at the far northern end of the beach, you can still find cheaper rooms and 2/3 star resorts, 500bt to 3,000bt as a guide, with Noren Resort, Boonya Resort, The Gallery, Tiger Huts and Blue Lagoon Bungalows, just a few of the names to look out for.

Lonely Beach – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

Lonely Beach, at the other end of the island, is the backpackers’ centre, with 100’s of suitable rooms for travelers on a budget.

Expect shared bathroom and paper thin walls at the cheapest end of the scale with prices in the 250bt to 300bt range. Hostels with dorms, mixed and single sex are similarly priced. Or you can stay in smaller resorts at places like Oasis, Magic Garden, Sea Flower, Kachapura, Paradise Cottage and on the sand itself, Nature Beach Resort, prices from 600bt to 2,500bt.

Bhumiyama Beach Resort moves things into more upscale territory with rooms from 4,000bt. Lonely Beach is also home to two great boutique resorts at Warapura Resort, 1,800bt to 3,000bt a night and Nest Sense, where a standard room starts at 4,400bt, going up to 8,800bt for a pool villa.

Kai Bae Beach – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

Kai Bae Beach has three fabulous top end resorts, the Awa Resort, The Chill and Gajapuri Resort, all in a row on the sea, right in the middle of town. Their rooms come in at 4,500bt at the lower end of the scale, but go up to 17,500bt for the pool villas.

At the southern end, Seaview Resort remains very popular after all these years and you’ll not go far wrong at smaller resorts like KB Resort, Kai Bae Beach Resort, The Stage or The Garden Resort. Rooms here range from 2,500bt thorugh to 9,000bt for a honeymoon suite

For more straightforward bungalow accommodation, try Porn’s Bungalows, Paradise Bungalows and Sea Breeze, 1,500bt to 2,500bt. For backpackers, Siam Cottages ticks most boxes, 700bt a night.

Chai Chet – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

Chai Chet Beach is often overlooked, but its reputation continues to grow with the addition of the terrific Flora i Talay, bungalows from 3,200bt and Pajamas, next door, for backpackers (430bt dorm beds).

Both of these are just down the road from the highly recommended Paradise Resort and Spa, one of Koh Chang’s best long-running resorts, where bungalows start at 3,500bt upwards.

Chai Chet Resort over on the cape has accommodation at a similar price and Koh Chang Thai Hill Resort offers good value up near the road at the northern end.

You will also find motels, guesthouses and long stay rooms around the plazas including Luxury Guesthouse at 1,000bt a night.

Chang Buri Resort is the stand-out of the Koh Chang resorts on South White Sand Beach. Its rooms and swimming pools on both sides of the road go from 2,000bt for standard to 6,500bt for the pool villas. Look out too for Koh Chang Grand View Resort, another solid 3 star choice at 2,500bt standard to 4,800bt for deluxe.

Keeree ele Hotel offers a distinctly boutique Bangkok style at 2,000bt a night, with Paddy’s Palms, another excellent small hotel choice, immediately next door. Other mid-range resorts include Plaloma Resort, the German owned Top Resort and at the far end, Para Resort. Expect room prices from 1,500bt for doubles to 4,000bt for family.

For backpackers, try Koh Chang Hut Hotel, where you can pick up rooms from as low as 500bt a night.

Please note that all of the hotels and resorts at this end of White Sand are not on the beach.

Up at Bailan Beach, the Mercure Hideway has emerged as one of the most reliable Koh Chang resorts. Offering rooms from 2,550bt a night, it makes for a very solid choice despite its less than wonderful beach.

Bailan Beach Resort and Harley Moon Hideaway are the pick of the other 2/3 star resorts, bungalows from 2,500bt upwards. Kamrai Resort is another 1,500bt under the radar spot, with its own small swimming pool.

Look out too for the very private Mangrove at the northern end, 1,500bt a night for its chic wooden and thatch huts.

Backpackers and travellers can find beach cabanas at Elephant Bay, brushed concrete bungalows at Lazy Repuplique or thatch huts at Jungle Garden – prices from 600bt.

Lisca Beach also now offers glamping on the southern headland, prices from 1,900bt upwards for a night under the canvas.

Despite its lack of a sandy beach, Koh Chang resorts on Pearl Beach have become a quietly popular choice. The resorts owners are friendly, you can easily hop over to White Sand Beach for more action and its prices are very keen.

Ban Ton Rak, the roadside small boutique resort, offers doubles from 1,600bt to 2,500bt.

Penny’s Bungalows, its near neighbour Saffron on the Sea and Privilege are all in a similar bracket as are the the older resorts such Keereeta, Remark and Resortel.

Elephant and Castle is the pick of the cheaper rooms, just 6 bungalows up on the hillside at around 500bt, but look out too for the great value rooms at Macura Resort, Alisa and TP Huts inland at the start of the village.

Bang Bao Beach also throws a few great choices into the mix via its peaceful resorts and its backpacker accommodation.

At the far southern end of the beach, the small but luxurious Chivapuri Resort has large villas starting at 3,500bt, whereas next door, the stylish Tropical Beach Resort has rates as low as 2,500bt for its circular brushed concrete villas.

In contrast, heading back up the sand, Klong Kloi Cottage offers simple beach bungalows from 400bt, whilst its neighbour Bang Bao Beach Resort is pricier at 1,700bt a night upwards. Yu Yu Golden Beach has a large choice at similar rates.

Backpackers now have lots of choices too behind the beach, from Treehouse Cottages on the creek to Sea You Place, Lakchai, Freedom Home, Santisook and T-Garden, all further back along the sandy access road. You should be able to get a room with shared bathroom at 300bt, 500bt for bathroom inside.

Bang Bao – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

Bang Bao provides some good Koh Chang mid range resorts on the bay – Nirvana Resort, starting at just 2,500bt for a standard room with Resolution Resort and Bhuvarin Resort, both with good views back across the water, at 2,000bt per night.

Cliff Cottage combines glamping bell tents with bungalows, prices from 650bt upwards. Backpacker thatch huts can be hunted down at Rasta Beach and Hippy Huts, 250bt for shared bathroom.

Guesthouses on the pier itself include El Greco, Paradise, Buddha View and Ocean Blue in the region of 750bt to 1,200bt a night.

Over in the south east corner of Koh Chang, Parama Resort, run by the Epicurean chain, and its sister boutique, Parama 2, provide high end exclusivity at Chek Bae, prices ranging from 2,500bt a night to 17,500bt for an ocean view suite.

There are a handful other Koh Chang resorts, mostly for Thai weekenders nearby, so prices tend to be part of a package. On the remote Long Beach, Treehouse Bungalows sits at the opposite end of the scales, with shared bathroom fan huts at 300bt.

Salak Phet, over on the other side of the bay, has mainly Thai homestays, but look out for, Mangrove Hideaway with rooms from 1,500bt a night looking out over the mangroves, the tiny guesthouse Baan Yemaya at 600bt and Salak Phet Resort, complete with its famous seafood restaurant at 1,600bt to 4,000bt.

East Coast Koh Chang resorts and villas are concentrated at Dan Khao, a few kilometres down from the two ferry piers at Ao Sapparot and Centrepoint.

Amber Sands and Serenity Resort sit on a narrow patch of red sand overlooking the mainland. If you are looking to get away from it all, here’s a great place to start with prices from 3,250bt a night, though having a motorbike to go to and fro during the day is a good idea.

Further down, the artist’s guesthouse Blessed offers just a couple of rooms from 2,500bt, while Garden of Joy provides a wide selection at 2,750bt to 4,500bt in peak. Baan Talay Thai is a private housing development, with 2 bedroom and 4 bedroom villas for weekly rentals another couple of kilometres along.

At the far end of the east coast at Salak Khok, you can detox at the at The Spa Koh Chang, rooms at 1,800bt upwards excluding the programs.

Klong Son – Koh Chang Resorts, Hotels and Bungalows

Klong Son, nearest town to the ferries, is home to the largest private housing development on the island at Siam Royal View. You can rent villas, sleeping from 6 to 12 people and new studio or 1 bedroom condos, with prices for the condos starting at 4,000bt a night, while the villas are 7,500bt upwards.

Aiyapura Resort and Spa, a stalwart among the Koh Chang resorts, overlooks the southern side of the bay, rooms from 4,000bt a night.

Scattered about the town and down near the sea, you will find other small resorts, motels and guesthouses such as Evergreen Resort, Feel@Chill, Pukdee, Garden Lodge, Riverside. Rates go from 350bt through to 2,000bt.
